Ceramicist and metal worker
Hester Dennett is a multidisciplinary artist and ceramicist, working from her studio in Cornwall. An Associate Member of the Penwith Society of Artists, she graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
Her work is rooted in the elemental landscape and heritage of West Penwith. She creates Raku-fired stoneware vessels smoked with wild gorse, leaving organic carbon markings that echo Cornwall’s weathered granite hedges. These forms are combined with hand-crafted copper foliage, inspired by Newlyn’s historic copper-smithing tradition.
Through clay, smoke, fire and copper, Hester explores the connection between Cornwall’s natural environment and its cultural heritage, reflecting on the resilience and fragility of both.
