Wild boundaries
Wild Boundaries is a collective of artists living and working in Cornwall, brought together by a shared fascination with one of the county’s most remarkable and enduring features: the ancient Cornish hedge.
Built from local stone and earth, these living boundaries have shaped Cornwall’s landscape for thousands of years. They define fields and lanes, provide shelter for wildlife, tell stories of generations past, and form an essential part of Cornwall’s cultural identity. Yet despite their importance, they are too often overlooked.
Through ceramics, painting, printmaking, metalwork and textile collage, we explore these extraordinary structures as places where nature, history and human endeavour meet. Our work seeks to reveal the beauty, resilience and ecological richness contained within these seemingly ordinary boundaries.
Wild Boundaries is both a celebration and an invitation. We invite you to slow down, look more closely, and discover the hidden worlds held within Cornwall’s ancient hedges.
